Manchester United forward Joshua Zirkzee has asked his agent to explore a move, boosting AC Milan and Juventus’s pursuit.
According to a report from Caught Offside, Joshua Zirkzee is looking to part ways with Manchester United just six months after joining them. He has asked his entourage to explore a potential exit from Old Trafford amidst interest from AC Milan and Juventus.
While things did not work out for Zirkzee at Bayern Munich, his consistent performances at Bologna convinced Manchester United to fork out a significant fee to acquire his services last summer. The Dutchman was off to a flying start with a goal on debut, but things have not been that great for him ever since.
Joshua Zirkzee’s failed United move
The Dutch striker has only managed four goals in his 28 outings and has been on the pitch for just over 1,000 minutes. While Zirkzee was willing to fight hard for a place in the team, things went from bad to worse when he was subbed off in the first half of their game against Newcastle United.
Manchester United conceded two goals quite early in the game against the Magpies, and Ruben Amorim decided to take off Zirkzee in the 33rd minute following his poor performance. That substitution seems to have left a deep mark on the 23-year-old, and he is now exploring a move away from United.
While Joshua Zirkzee was involved in their 2-2 draw against Liverpool, it was just a four-minute cameo towards the end of the game. With things not going according to plan for him at the Manchester-based club, the former Bayern Munich prospect has instructed his representatives to look for a return to Italy, where multiple clubs are keen on his signature.
Zirkzee to return to the Serie A?
Despite his recent struggle, multiple Italian clubs are ready to bet on him given what he did during his time at Bologna. AC Milan and Juventus are the two teams who are keen on his signature. The Rossoneri seek more depth in the final third, while the Old Lady are looking to reunite Thiago Motta with the Dutch international.
The Turin-based club are believed to be the ones who are quite serious about their pursuit. But, the Bianconeri are not going to find it easy to strike a deal for him, as Manchester United are looking for a loan with an option to buy. Juventus can commit to such a deal without raising funds by offloading Dusan Vlahovic, who is not willing to pen a new deal at the Allianz Stadium.
