Seattle Sounders eyeing Marcus Rashford swoop

MLS outfit Seattle Sounders are plotting a raid on Manchester United for the services of their academy graduate Marcus Rashford.

According to Ben Jacobs via TEAMtalk, Marcus Rashford could end up making the move to the MLS as there is growing interest in the English international from the United States. Seattle Sounders are keen on signing the Manchester United graduate and they have already held internal talks regarding a potential transfer.

Rashford was once considered to be amongst the best forwards in the world but he has had quite a fall over the last few seasons. The 27-year-old has struggled for form and the arrival of Ruben Amorim has seen him go down the pecking order.

He was left out of their squad for the Manchester derby and has since missed another four games. His efforts in training and off-field behaviour are believed to be the reasons for his absence. While Amorim has insisted that the English international can return to mix if he shows the desire, Rashford has already talked about him being ready for the next step.

Meanwhile, United are ready to sanction the departure of their academy graduate as long as their demands are met. They are pushing for a winter move and there is a significant amount of interest in him from the Middle East. But, Rashford is not keen on joining a Saudi Pro League outfit despite the lucrative offers.

While he is not keen on moving to Saudi Arabia, Jacobs has confirmed that a move to Major League Soccer could be a possibility. Seattle Sounders are the ones keen on signing the 27-year-old and they have already made their clear.

Ben Jacobs’ take on Rashford’s future

While speaking on the Stretford Paddock YouTube channel, Jacobs said via TEAMtalk: “There are some suggestions that MLS has an appetite for Rashford. The MLS deals sometimes are funded centrally with support for MLS by Apple streaming partner, as with Lionel Messi,”

“Rashford doesn’t fall into that category but he might be able to get a package if there is MLS interest, provided there’s central support.

“I’m told the club that has asked the question, though there’s nothing particularly advanced at this point, is Seattle. They’ve had an internal conversation.

“The reason why it’s Seattle is because they are a Club World Cup representative, which is an appeal to anyone they wish to sign, and in addition to that, they’re likely to get a minimum of between €50-60 million for entering the Club World Cup.

“So MLS can turn around to Club World Cup representatives Seattle and Inter Miami and tell them they can afford to pay for these stars. So budget may not be a problem.”

Seattle Sounders’ interest in Rashford

The MLS outfit are all set to feature in the Club World Cup and it is expected to generate between €50-60 million for the club. The financial boost could help them afford Rashford’s services. While MLS clubs could even contribute centrally to bring him to the United States just as they did with Lionel Messi.

Rashford’s arrival could have a massive impact and Seattle Sounders have already held internal talks regarding a potential move for the United winger. While they are interested, nothing concrete has happened so far as Seattle are yet to reach out to the player of the English club.
