Brighton & Hove Albion offer £23 million to sign Vitor Reis

Brighton & Hove Albion have reportedly lodged a proposal worth £23 million to sign 18-year-old Brazilian prodigy Vitor Reis from Palmeiras.

According to a report by Daily Mail, Vitor Reis is the subject of interest from Brighton & Hove Albion. The Seagulls have submitted a bid worth £23 million to sign the Palmeiras defensive sensation. Meanwhile, the teenage Brazilian prodigy is also a target for Arsenal, Chelsea, and Real Madrid.

The rise of Vitor Reis

Vitor Reis has established himself as one of the most promising young defenders in the world since breaking into the first-team squad at Vitor Reis. The teenage sensation began his youth career with the R10 Academy before joining Palmeiras as a 10-year-old in 2016. He subsequently progressed through the ranks at the club before making his senior bow midway through the 2024 season.

The 18-year-old has already turned out 22 times for Palmeiras while chipping in with two goals. Meanwhile, the youngster’s progress in the last few months has not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of several high-profile clubs across Europe, including Arsenal, Chelsea, and Real Madrid. However, his next destination might be Brighton & Hove Albion, with the Seagulls making a bid worth £23 million.

A man in demand

Arsenal and Chelsea’s interest in the Brazilian defensive sensation is understandable. While the Gunners are scouring the market for a centre-back amid uncertainties surrounding the long-term futures of Jakub Kiwior and Takehiro Tomiyasu, Chelsea might part ways with Axel Disasi and Benoit Badiashile.

In addition, the Blues have a rich recent history of signing highly-rated South American prospects, with Estevao Willian and Kendry Paez due to arrive at Stamford Bridge later this month. Meanwhile, Vitor Reis is a long-term target for Real Madrid amid Los Blancos’ eagerness to land a long-term central defensive solution.

While David Alaba and Antonio Rudiger are on the wrong side of 30, Eder Militao is recovering from a long-term knee injury for the second successive year. However, Arsenal, Chelsea, and Real Madrid face a losing battle to land Reis. Brighton & Hove Albion have offered £23 million to sign the youngster in the winter transfer window.

However, the Seagulls have not matched Palmeiras’s valuation of £25 million. That might create a window of opportunity for Arsenal, Chelsea, and Real Madrid. However, it will be interesting to see if Brighton & Hove Albion can beat their Premier League rivals and Los Blancos to the 18-year-old Brazilian prodigy.
