Manchester United scouting Samu Aghehowa and Rodrigo Mora

Manchester United are scouting FC Porto’s highly-rated duo Samu Aghehowa and Rodrigo Mora, although the financials involved could make a move untenable.

According to Caught Offside, Manchester United are watching FC Porto’s highly-rated duo Samu Aghehowa and Rodrigo Mora with intent. The idea of scouting the duo might have stemmed from new manager Ruben Amorim, who knows the Portuguese market well, although the price placed on the Porto pair could make a January move impossible.

Manchester United are looking for opportunities in the January window, although there are a lot of complications ahead for them to get the business done. For starters, there are budget constraints for Ruben Amorim to consider before naming names to bring in the winter market.

Multiple reports are brewing in the media about several players being seen as dispensable at the club. For instance, there are chances of Joshua Zirkzee leaving amid the recent controversy surrounding the striker as links to Juventus emerge. Coincidentally, there are links to multiple strikers from other clubs to come to Old Trafford.

Manchester United could attempt a move for Viktor Gyokeres, who is a player that Amorim knows closely. However, he has a large enough release clause that could prevent a move unless the club make considerable sales. Now they are linked with FC Porto’s highly-rated duo Samu Aghehowa and Rodrigo Mora as scouts have watched the pair closely.

Mora is a teenage attacking midfielder coming through the ranks at Porto and has a £55 million release clause. The Portuguese club are not even thinking about selling the teenager for the time being, and certainly not for anything less than his release clause. Meanwhile, Samu has a release clause of £82 million as well as a 50% sell on clause in Atletico Madrid’s favour, which does make him expensive.

Will Manchester United invest £137 million on Porto pair?

Manchester United are interested in Samu alongside a few other clubs and could view him as a top target for the centre-forward position in the future. As of now, they are not in a position to spend big, meaning a January move could be seen as impossible.

The same goes for Mora, as his £55 million release clause is seen as prohibitive from a neutral standpoint. This means the chances of Manchester United spending close to £137 million on the highly-rated duo, especially in January.
