Liverpool winger Ben Doak is reportedly a target for Crystal Palace, and the Reds have now set his asking price, an eight-figure sum.
According to a report by The Independent, Liverpool want £30 million to sell 19-year-old highly-rated winger Ben Doak, and it remains to be seen whether Crystal Palace are prepared to pay up.
Crystal Palace have already failed with a £15 million offer for the teenage sensation, and it seems unlikely that they will be willing to pay double of that. Although the 19-year-old is a tremendous talent, the reported £30 million asking price seems quite steep.
Liverpool might have to be more reasonable with their demands for the move to go through. With that said, the Reds are under no pressure to sell the Scotsman, and they will happily keep him at the club and let him develop into an important first-team player in the near future.
Doak has impressed with his cameos for the Liverpool first,-team and his loan spell at Middlesbrough has been fruitful as well. It might not be a bad idea to let the youngster continue at the EFL Championship club for the remainder of the 2024/25 season.
There is no doubt that he is a prodigious young talent with a bright future and that he has the attributes to succeed in the Premier League. Liverpool could certainly use more depth in the wide areas, and the 19-year-old could be a useful squad player for them in the coming seasons.
Crystal Palace move could be ideal for Ben Doak
Crystal Palace might be able to provide Ben Doak with regular first-team opportunities in the Premier League, and they will certainly be an attractive destination for the player. However, Liverpool are unlikely to let the player leave for cheap, and the Eagles might be priced out of a move for him
The 19-year-old certainly has the potential to justify the £30 million asking price in the long run if Crystal Palace can nurture improperly. However, the Eagles need to improve the other areas of their squad as well, and they might not be able to pay that kind of money for the youngster right now. It will be interesting to see how the situation develops over the next few weeks.
