Everton will reportedly look to sign 21-year-old Africa midfield prospect Habib Diarra from Ligue 1 club RC Strasbourg in a deal worth €20 million this month.
According to a report by Foot Africa, Habib Diarra is the subject of interest from Everton. The Toffees have been scouring the market for an attacking midfielder heading into the winter transfer window. So, the RC Strasbourg prospect has emerged as a target, with the Merseyside outfit ready to cough up €20 million to secure his services this month.
Who is Habib Diarra?
Habib Diarra has established himself as one of the best young prospects in Ligue 1 since breaking into the first-team squad at RC Strasbourg. A native of Guédiawaye, the youngster spent his formative years in France and graduated from the youth division at RC Strasbourg.
Diarra made his first-team bow for RC Strasbourg as a 17-year-old in August 2021 and has come leaps and bounds in the last three years. The 21-year-old has turned out nearly 100 times thus far for the Ligue 1 club while chipping in with ten goals and six assists.
Meanwhile, Diarra’s progress has not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of several well-known clubs across Europe. A move to the Premier League might be on the cards for the RC Strasbourg midfielder, with Everton keen on securing the services of the Senegalese international before the winter transfer window shuts down.
Premier League move on the cards?
Everton’s interest in Habib Diarra is understandable. The Toffees have been scouring the market for an attacking midfielder heading into the winter transfer window as Sean Dyche looks for more productivity in the final third. So, several attackers, including Tom Fellows, have emerged on Everton’s radar.
However, Diarra is also a viable target, with Everton tracking him since the summer transfer window. The latest report has revealed that the Toffees are ready to launch the offensive to sign the African midfield prospect, as they are lining up a bid worth €20 million to secure his services.
It is unclear if a bid worth €20 million will be enough for Everton to convince RC Strasbourg to part ways with the 21-year-old midfielder. The Toffees will hope they can sign the Senegalese international from the Ligue 1 club in the coming days.
