Crystal Palace recently approached Slavia Praha with a bid worth €15 million to sign El Hadji Malick Diouf, with the Czech club rejecting the proposal.
According to an update by reputed French journalist Santi Aouna, El Hadji Malick Diouf is the subject of interest from Crystal Palace. The Eagles are scouring the market for a new left wing-back, with the Slavia Praha wide player emerging as a target. However, they have failed with their first offer worth €15 million, Slavia Praha knocking it back.
Who is El Hadji Malick Diouf?
El Hadji Malick Diouf has seen his stock soar since moving to Europe. A native of Ziguinchor, the African wonderkid spent most of his formative years in Senegal. However, he has been in Europe since February 2023. The youngster was with Tromso IL for a year before joining Slavia Praha last year in the winter transfer window.
The 19-year-old has enjoyed an excellent 2024/25 campaign thus far, chipping in with six goals and three assists in 28 appearances across all competitions. Meanwhile, Diouf’s progress has not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of several well-known clubs across Europe.
A move to the Premier League might be on the horizon, with Crystal Palace vying for his signature. Santi Aouna has revealed that several other clubs are keen on signing the Senegalese international next year. However, the Eagles have made the first move to secure his services next year.
London calling?
Crystal Palace’s interest in El Hadji Malick Diouf makes sense. The Eagles have been scouring the market for a new left wing-back heading into the January transfer window. While Tyrick Mitchell has been top-class for the South London club, he faces an uncertain future at Selhurst Park.
The English international has entered the final six months of his contract. In addition, Mitchell has emerged as a target for several European bigwigs, including Arsenal, FC Barcelona, and Tottenham Hotspur. So, Crystal Palace should invest in a promising left wing-back, with Malick Diouf emerging as a viable target for the Premier League club.
The Eagles have already submitted a bid worth €15 million to sign the Senegalese international. However, the proposal has not convinced Slavia Praha, with the Czech outfit rebuffing the offer. So, it will be interesting to see if Crystal Palace will intensify the efforts to sign the 19-year-old wide player from Slavia Praha this year.
