Liverpool have reporteldhy rejected a bid from Crystal Palace for exciting winger Ben Doak, as the offer does not meet the valuation.
According to Sami Mokbel, Crystal Palace have failed with a bid for Liverpool winger Ben Doak. The offer was around the £15 million mark, which does not come close to the reported valuation of the 19-year-old wideman, as the Eagles might return with an improved bid.
Crystal Palace are looking to strengthen their side ahead of this month’s window. Oliver Glasner has identified a few key areas to build on this konth, but the right wing slot will be seen as a priority by the Austrian manager.
The departure of Michael Olise in the summer has left a considerable gap in the attacking third, as the Frenchman was an integral part of how Palace attacked. They have not found a suitable replacement since he left for Bayern Munich, and the January window could be an opportunity to rectify the problem.
There are links to Miguel Almiron, with the Newcastle United star free to leave St James Park. However, they appear to be keeping tabs on other targets, and now Palace have seen a £15 million bid rejected by Liverpool for exciting winger Ben Doak.
Ben Doak joined Middlesbrough on loan in the summer, and the Championship side are somewhat worried about the prospect of losing him in mid-season. Liverpool reported feeling the valuation of the player is much higher, given he was already seen as one of the options to succeed Mohamed Salah in the future.
Palace to return with an improved offer?
Liverpool are not thinking about re-calling Ben Doak from his loan at Middlesbrough, although they could be tempted to sell him if they can recieve a sizeable offer from elsewhere. Palace might return with an improved bid if they feel the Reds are logical in their valuation of the highly-rated prospect.
As per the latest reporting on Ben Doak, David Ornstein of The Athletic reported that Ipswich Town had made a slightly better offer than Palace, which Liverpool rejected. Hence, Palace could have a fight on their hands and big competition for the highly-rated Liverpool prospect, as there are chances they will return with an improved offer.
