Arsenal pushing to seal winter move for Matheus Cunha

Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal are pushing hard to acquire the services of Wolves forward Matheus Cunha in the ongoing transfer window.

Arsenal are looking to reinforce their attack in January, and according to a report from Football Insider, the Gunners are exploring a potential move for Wolves star Matheus Cunha.

While things did not work out for Cunha at Atletico Madrid, he has surely made a name for himself with consistent performances in England. He joined Wolves at the start of 2023, and the move became permanent in the summer when an obligation buy clause worth £44 million was triggered.

Cunha has been on fire this season. While Wolves are struggling to get going, the Brazilian international has been their standout performer with 10 goals and four assists in his 19 league outings. His performances have not gone unnoticed, and multiple top clubs are looking to prise him away.

Arsenal to push for Cunha’s signature

Arsenal have taken note of his performances, and they are pushing hard to land the 25-year-old striker in the ongoing transfer window. With Gabriel Jesus no longer an important part of Mikel Arteta’s plans and Kai Havertz not an out-and-out striker, the Spanish manager is desperate to bring in a new goal scorer.

The Arsenal boss wants to bolster his attack before the transfer window shuts on February 3. While the Gunners are interested in Cunha, Wolves are reluctant to sell their Brazilian ace. They are involved in a survival battle, and the former Atletico Madrid attacker could prove to be a very important player.

Vitor Pereira has helped his team climb out of the drop zone with seven points in his first three league games in charge, and he feels Cunha could be key to their chances of staying up. The Gunners will find it very difficult to convince Wolves to part ways with one of their star player.

Bukayo Saka’s injury has been a massive blow for Mikel Arteta’s team. With the English attacker out for weeks, signing a new forward seems to be a top priority for Arsenal in this window. It will be interesting to see if they can strike a deal for the Wolves star.
