Real Madrid are considering putting forward an improved offer for Liverpool defensive star Trent Alexander-Arnold.
Trent Alexander-Arnold’s future has been a massive talking point. With his contract running out, Real Madrid are keen on acquiring his services. Los Blancos are free to discuss a pre-contract agreement with the Liverpool full-back regarding a free transfer in the summer.
But, the Spanish giants are keen on signing him in January and according to a report from The Times, Carlo Ancelotti’s team are weighing up a second offer to sign the English international in the ongoing transfer window.
Alexander-Arnold has been an important part of Liverpool’s first team since getting promoted back in 2016. He has been a consistent performer over the years and has played a big part in all the success they have had.
While he remains one of the first names on their team sheet under Arne Slot, his future is uncertain with his contract running out at the end of the season. The Reds are working hard to extend his stay but they haven’t succeeded yet.
A winter move to Los Blancos?
In the meantime, Real Madrid are making plans to lure him to the Spanish capital. While they can strike a pre-agreement with him and acquire his services for free, Los Blancos are keen on adding him to their squad in the ongoing window.
With Dani Carvajal out for the remainder of the campaign and Lucas Vazquez the only other option at right-back, Ancelotti is pushing to bring in a new right-back mid-season. While the team in white want to sign Alexander-Arnold in January, Liverpool have dismissed the idea that the English international could leave in January despite the fact that his contract runs out in six months.
The team in white have already held talks with the Merseyside club. While a fee wasn’t really discussed during the initial talks, the report suggests that Real would be willing to fork out in excess of £20 million to sign him in January. With Ancelotti keen, Los Blancos are considering whether to make further contact.
Despite the possibility of the 26-year-old leaving for free at the end of the season, the Reds are not ready to negotiate a mid-season transfer as he could be important to their chances of winning La Liga and the Champions League.
