Juventus eyeing Tyrell Malacia loan swoop

Serie A giants Juventus are reportedly mulling over a winter loan move for 25-year-old Manchester United left-back Tyrell Malacia.

According to a report by Italian outlet Tutto Juve, Tyrell Malacia is the subject of interest from Juventus. The Serie A giants have been scouring the market for a defensive reinforcement heading into the winter transfer window amid uncertainties surrounding the long-term future of Danilo. So, the 25-year-old Manchester United full-back has emerged as a target for the Bianconeri.

Tyrell Malacia and his Manchester United journey

Tyrell Malacia has endured a topsy-turvy ride since joining Manchester United from Feyenoord in July 2022. A native of Rotterdam, the Dutchman spent his formative years in his hometown and graduated from the youth division at Feyenoord while spending nearly a decade and a half with the Eredivisie giants.

While the 25-year-old was solid in his debut season with Manchester United, he missed the entire 2023/24 campaign due to a long-term knee injury. Malacia was also unavailable in the first few months this term but has turned out five times thus far while amassing 241 minutes of game time.

However, Malacia’s performance level has dropped after his fitness issues in the last 18 months, losing a lot of pace. But that has not affected his stock in the transfer market, with the Dutch full-back emerging as a target for a few well-known clubs across Europe. The latest report has linked the Manchester United full-back with Juventus.

Serie A move on the horizon?

Juventus’s interest in Tyrell Malacia is intriguing. The Bianconeri will likely part ways with Danilo before the winter transfer window shuts down. So, the Serie A giants have been scouring the market for a defensive reinforcement, with the report pointing to the Manchester United full-back as a target.

However, the Dutchman will not be a like-for-like replacement for Danilo, although he will be a top-notch addition to the Serie A club’s squad. The report has claimed that Juventus will likely pursue a loan move until the end of the 2024/25 season if they part ways with Danilo this month.

However, it is unclear if Manchester United will sanction a loan departure for the 25-year-old Dutch full-back in the coming weeks. A temporary stint away from the instability of Old Trafford might benefit the Netherlands’ international.
