Liverpool are reportedly keen to sign Morgan Gibbs-White, and Nottingham Forest are unlikely to entertain offers in January.
According to Football Insider, Morgan Gibbs-White is seen as a top target by Liverpool’s management. The Premier League leaders could reportedly plot a move in January or next summer, although Nottingham Forest are not likely to consider offers this month.
Nottingham Forest are having a dream season after some tremendous performances this time under Nuno Espirito Santo. Some of their players have stepped up big time, while the attack and defence are clicking in the right order in every game.
They have won their last five Premier League games, and in this period, Morgan Gibbs-White has notched two goals and three assists. The 24-year-old Premier League playmaker has been the subject of a move to one of the bigger clubs in the top flight, but Forest held firm back in the summer.
Interestingly, Gibbs-White has not signed a new contract since his move from Wolves in 2022, but Forest could now be thinking about it as he will enter the final two years of that agreement next summer. Some teams are looking closely at the 24-year-old Premier League playmaker’s situation, with Liverpool holding a concrete interest.
Liverpool view Gibbs-White as a priority target ahead of the January window or next summer. Arne Slot reportedly seeks a new playmaker with a keen eye for goals, and the Forest man certainly fits that profile. He will not come cheap, as the Reds are reportedly thinking about approaching this month.
Nottingham Forest uninterested in Gibbs-White sale
Nottingham Forest are chasing a big finish this season and currently sits third in the standings. Losing a player like Gibbs-White will be a severe blow to their plans, and hence, the club are unlikely to entertain any offers in January. Next summer, however, they could consider proposals to see if they match the player’s valuation.
Liverpool are not expected to spend heavily in January and given that a playmaker is not a big necessity at this moment, any move for Gibbs-White in the summer would make more sense. While the 24-year-old Premier League playmaker would light up Anfield, the Reds might have to wait until the summer before having a chance to make a move.
