Andrei Ratiu likely to leave Rayo Vallecano in January

Andrei Ratiu could be made available for a move in January as the Rayo Vallecano right back continues to attract big interest.

According to Mundo Deportivo via Sport Witness, Andrei Ratiu could have a big chance to leave Rayo Vallecano in January with the right-back attracting big interest. The 26-year-old La Liga defender has a €25 million release clause, with Tottenham and Barcelona among those keen on the full-back.

Andrei Ratiu has been one of the consistent performers in La Liga this season, with the right-back starting 15 of the 16 games he has played this season. Rayo Vallecano are settled in mid-table in La Liga, and they will continue to back upon their existing players to keep them there or more.

However, with Ratiu, he could leave Vallecano in January as many clubs are lining up a move for the 26-year-old La Liga defender. He has a contract until 2028, which consists of a €25 million release clause, as some of the interested clubs are likely to make an offer for the full-back.

Barcelona are interested, and the report insists the Catalan club have good relations with Ratiu’s agent, which might give them an advantage in the chase. There’s a need to add to the full-back position on the right-hand side, although Barcelona’s well-documented financial problems could see them not make a move as soon as January.

Any move to Barcelona will depend on how the club sort out their problems, which continues to threathen summer signing Dani Olmo’s immediate future. For now, any move to the Catalans is unlikely for the 26-year-old La Liga defender. However, they are not the only option for Ratiu ahead of next month, as the report insists the player is likely to depart Vallecano.

Tottenham in the mix for Andrei Ratiu

Tottenham are also interested in Ratiu, with the player seen as an ideal replacement for Pedro Porro earlier. While they are not particularly short of options on the right side after the emergence of Djed Spence in the last many games, it is the left-back slot where they really need a new addition to support Destiny Udogie.

However, a move for Ratiu would make sense if he was to replace one of Porro or Spence, as the Vallecano star is not a young prospect ready to wait for a long time to get his chance. Hence, he’s either coming as a starter or a close competitor to the right-back slot, as his price tag may seem reasonable, with the room to negotiate with Vallecano.
