Arsenal and PSG are among those keen on Marco Carnesecchi ahead of next summer, with the Gunners in this race with a slight advantage.
According to Corriere dello Sport via Sport Witness, Arsenal and PSG are among the clubs showing big interest in Atalanta goalkeeper Marco Carnesecchi. The 24-year-old stopper has been impressive for the Serie A side over the last 18 months or so, with the Gunners in the race with a slight advantage.
Marco Carnesecchi has been one of the reasons why Atalanta have been exceptional this season, conceding 22 times in 23 games across all competitions. The Bergamo side are leading the charge in Serie A, as the 24-year-old has come to show his importance in Gian Piero Gasperini’s team.
However, the only worry for Atalanta is with the stopper’s contract, which lasts until 2026, as several sides are already taking note of the situation. There is every chance the Bergamo side will accelerate a renewal and keep hold of the player, but big interest from elsewhere could turn the 24-year-old’s head.
Arsenal and PSG are reportedly keen to sign the player, who is reportedly valued at €40-50 million by Atalanta. However, with his contract ending in around 18 months, the Serie A side might be forced to sell him for far less next summer.
PSG are looking for a new stopper to refresh their ranks and bring about absolute competition for Gianluigi Donnarumma. They can lure the player with good enough wages and might even come close to paying for the €40-50 million-rated Serie A goalkeeper, but Arsenal have an edge in the race.
Arsenal with an advantage in Marco Carnesecchi chace
Arsenal are in a position to bring in a new goalkeeper next summer, as they did last summer when Aaron Ramsdale. Sunderland’s Anthony Patterson is a player they like, as well as Joan Garcia of Espanyol, with many other clubs chasing the latter.
In the Carnesecchi chase, Arsenal have an advantage as the 24-year-old shares the same agency as Riccardo Calafiori. The Gunners have good relations with the player’s representatives, which could swing the player towards the North Londoners ahead of next summer.
