Liverpool agree new deal with Mohamed Salah

Liverpool have reportedly made a breakthrough in their efforts to tie Mohamed Salah down to a new contract.

According to a report from Fichajes, Liverpool have reached an agreement with the Egyptian international regarding a new deal, which will keep him at the club until 2028. His contract would have expired in the summer of 2025, and it remains to be seen whether the two parties can wrap up the formalities of the extension soon.

Keeping him at the club will greatly boost Liverpool and their fans. Salah has been exceptional for Liverpool since joining the club and has helped them win multiple major trophies. In addition, he continues to perform at a world-class level every week and has helped Liverpool climb to the top of the league table this season. The Reds are on top of the UEFA Champions League standings as well.

Salah has been instrumental to their success this season. He is undoubtedly the best player at the club right now, and Liverpool must do everything in their power to keep him, for as long as possible. The 33-year-old is an extremely fit player with a tremendous availability record. It is evident that he can play at a high level deep into his 30s and therefore offering him a three-year extension could prove to be a wise decision.

Saudi clubs were keen on Salah

The attacker has been heavily linked with a move away from Liverpool in recent months. Clubs in Saudi Arabia were keeping tabs on his situation, and the latest development will come as a major blow for them. There is no doubt that he would have been an exceptional acquisition for the Saudi pro league and he would have lifted Saudi football as a brand and attracted significant global appeal.

Meanwhile, Liverpool will be hoping to win major trophies in the coming seasons, and it will be interesting to see if the Egyptian can guide them to more success over the next few months. With his future sorted, the player will now look to focus on his football.
