Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly keen on signing 19-year-old out-of-favour Brazilian striker Vitor Roque from Barcelona.
According to a report by Fichajes, Barcelona are now ready to sell the player, and it will be interesting to see if Tottenham can get the deal across the line. The teenage prospect is currently on loan at Real Betis, and they have an option to sign him permanently for a fee of around €25 million at the end of the season.
The Andalusian outfit would be able to acquire 80% of the player’s rights if they decide to trigger the clause in the summer. It will be interesting to see if Tottenham are willing to pay more than that and convince Barcelona or Real Betis to sell the player to them. Betis could then acquire his services permanently and sell him for a profit to the North London club.
Tottenham need more quality and depth in the attacking unit, and Vitor Roque would be a quality addition. He was likened to the Brazilian legend Ronaldo because of a similar playing style a few years ago. The youngster could develop into an important player for Tottenham in the long term.
Tottenham need more quality and depth in their attacking unit if they are serious about pushing for trophies and have their sights set on Vitor Roque. They have been overly dependent on Dominic Solanke for goals, but the former Bournemouth star has not been able to find the back of the net consistently. He needs someone to share the goalscoring burden with him.
A future asset for Spurs?
The Barcelona prodigy could be the ideal long-term investment for them. The Brazilian international is likely to improve with coaching experience, and he could develop into a future star for the club.
The South American attacker, who cost Barcelona €60 million including add-ons, is available for a reasonable price as well, and Tottenham certainly have the financial muscle to get the deal across the line. The deal would look like a major bargain for them in the long run if the player manages to adapt to English football quickly.
The opportunity to move to England could be quite exciting for the Brazilian striker as well. He will look to prove himself in the Premier League and hit the ground running at Tottenham if the move goes through.
