Tottenham set to make approach for Matheus Cunha

Tottenham are all set to knock on the doors of Wolves for the services of Newcastle and Manchester United target Matheus Cunha.

Tottenham Hotspur have endured a poor start to the first half of the 2024/25 season, and they are looking at the winter transfer window as an opportunity to reinforce their squad. According to Ekrem Konur, Ange Posteoglou’s team are interested in the services of Matheus Cunha, and they are all set to make an enquiry about the Wolves forward.

Things did not work out for Cunha at Atletico Madrid, and he ended up joining the English outfit on a short loan at the start of 2023. His impressive performances resulted in Wolves securing his services on a permanent basis in the summer.

While things have not been that great for the Black Country outfit in the last few years, Cunha has certainly been one of the standout performers with 25 goals and 12 assists in his 74 outings. He prefers playing as a nine but is capable enough to feature anywhere in the final third.

Cunha could soon switch clubs

Cunha’s versatility has been of great use to Wolves, and he has been on fire this season with nine goals and three assists in his 17 Premier League outings. The 25-year-old Brazilian’s performances have put him on the radar of multiple top clubs across Europe.

Manchester United and Newcastle United both consider him an ideal fit for their system. With Isak’s future uncertain amidst interest from across Europe, the Magpies could look at Cunha as an ideal replacement. Meanwhile, the Red Devils seek more firepower and with Marcus Rashford expected to be on the move, the Wolves forward could help cope with his absence.

Tottenham keen on signing Matheus Cunha

While Cunha remains an option for both Manchester United and Newcastle United, Tottenham are the ones who seem to have concrete interest in the former Atletico Madrid attacker’s services. The North London outfit want more quality in the final third of the pitch.

Spurs did add Dominic Solanke to their squad in the summer, but their manager is not satisfied with the options up top. Son Heung-min’s contract is running out, and the South Korean attacker has emerged on top clubs’ radar.

In addition, Richalison has not lived up to the expectations at Tottenham. So, Cunha could be the player Spurs need to maintain fluidity and creativity in the final third. They are looking to enquire about the conditions of a potential transfer to bring Cunha to the club.
