Manchester United willing to pay €75 million to sign Viktor Gyokeres

Manchester United are reportedly keen on signing 26-year-old Sporting CP striker Viktor Gyokeres, who will cost around €75 million.

According to a report by Spanish outlet Fichajes, Manchester United are willing to pay €75 million to sign Viktor Gyokeres. The Swede has been one of the best strikers in the world over the last 12 months, and he has 32 goal contributions already this season.

There is no doubt that the Swedish international is performing at a world-class level, and he would be an exceptional acquisition for Manchester United if they can get the deal done. Summer signing Joshua Zirkzee has been quite underwhelming, and Manchester United need an upgrade on him. The Swedish international seems like the perfect acquisition for them in theory.

Sporting CP are prepared to sell the player for around €75 million, with Manchester United prepared to meet the valuation. It is fair to assume that any move would have to wait until the summer transfer window. The Portuguese outfit will not want to sell a key player midway through the season.

Manchester United might have an advantage in the race to sign the striker. Ruben Amorim knows the player well, having worked with him during their time together at Sporting CP, and he might be able to convince him to move to Manchester United. The opportunity to reunite with his former manager could be ideal for the Swede as well. It was Amorim who brought out the best in Gyokeres after his move to Sporting CP from Coventry City.

Gyokeres might fancy a big move

The Swedish international striker will feel that this is the right time for him to take the next step in his development and join a big club capable of winning trophies. A move to Manchester United could be ideal for him. Even though the Red Devils are going through a period of rebuilding, they are one of the biggest clubs in the world and they have the resources to top quality players.

The Red Devils are expected to build a formidable squad for the future, and they should soon be challenging for trophies. Meanwhile, Gyokeres could transform Manchester United in the final third and take them to a whole new level with his sharpness in front of goal.
