At least three Premier League teams are keen to explore a move for Juventus midfielder Nicolo Fagioli, who might prefer a bigger club.
According to Tutto Mercato Web, Nicolo Fagioli has at least three clubs from the Premier League showing an interest ahead of January. The midfielder is not an automatic starter for Juventus this season, which could see the club cash in, although he reportedly prefers a move to a much bigger side compared to the ones interested.
Nicolo Fagioli was a surprise selection for the Italian national team squad for the Euros despite spending most of the previous season out of the game with a ban. He also got himself a place in new Juventus manager Thiago Motta’s plans, but things have not worked out the way they were expected to.
Fagioli has only started 5 of the 13 Serie A games he has featured in so far, which has sparked rumours of a departure ahead of January. The Bianconeri are also chasing Sandro Tonali from Newcastle United, as a sale of Fagioli could allow them to gather funds to bring the former AC Milan midfielder to Turin.
There’s a reported price tag of €20-25 million on Fagioli, which will not pose a problem for some of the interested clubs coming from the Premier League. Crystal Palace are thought to be interested, while West Ham United and Fulham are also keen.
These are teams that could have a readymade place for the €20-25 million-rated midfielder in their respective sides, which could be a good enough proposition for the Italian international. A recent report stated Fagioli was reportedly offered to a few Premier League teams, although it remains to be seen whether that is the case.
Fagioli wants to join a bigger club
Fagioli might have reservations about joining one of Palace, Fulham or West Ham, as he does not see them as a big team compared to others, with Tottenham mentioned as a possible suitor in the story by Il Bianconero. Whether Spurs are indeed interested in the midfielder remains to be seen, but they are in the market for new signings to strengthen their squad.
Tottenham may have budget restrictions ahead of January, meaning they might sacrifice a midfield signing to focus on other areas. For instance, they are already looking to improve their forward line as well as central defence, while a goalkeeper might also become a priority following some problems in that position.
