Crystal Palace in transfer tussle to sign Miguel Almiron on loan

Crystal Palace are among three clubs vying to sign Miguel Almiron, with a loan move mooted about ahead of the January window.

According to The Sun, Crystal Palace are in a tussle to sign Miguel Almiron on loan from Newcastle United. The Paraguayan winger is surplus to requirement at St. James’ Park, with the Magpies desperate to offload the winger, as the Eagles are one of at least three sides eager to take the attacker.

Newcastle United are keen to make some sales, with Eddie Howe set to sanction the departure of some first-team stars, especially Miguel Almiron. The Paraguayan is surplus to requirement, as the club has been actively trying to offload him since last January.

Back then, there were talks with a Saudi Arabian club, but the two parties failed to agree on terms during talks. Newcastle United even failed to offload him last summer, and the January transfer window will present another opportunity to find a solution to the Paraguayan’s future.

Ahead of the upcoming January window, Almiron is keen to leave the club, as he is surplus to requirements at St. James’ Park. Almorin has started just once in his six Premier League appearances, as he feels the lack of game time is not something that suits him at this stage of his career.

Everton were reportedly interested, and now three other clubs are looking to make their move for the Paraguayan. Those are Crystal Palace, Leicester City and Wolves, as a three-way battle could ensue in January. Newcastle United paid £20 million to sign him from MLS side Atlanta United back in January 2019, which was a then-club record, although they will not expect to sell him for anywhere close to that sum.

Crystal Palace are eyeing Miguel Almiron loan

Crystal Palace are yet to fix their issues following Michael Olise’s departure, as they could target a right-sided attacker in January. Lyon’s Ernest Nuamah is a target, while there are other names the club’s transfer chiefs are considering, including Almiron.

Palace are eager to explore a loan move to take Almiron off Newcastle United’s hands, although the Magpies are actively looking to sell him. The Eagles could still make headway with a potential offer with a buy option or obligation, although it remains to be seen how this chase transpires.
