Charles Watts delivers his verdict on Manchester United star Marcus Rashford’s rumoured move to rivals Arsenal.
Marcus Rahsford’s future has become a massive talking point of late as he is no longer a regular starter at Manchester United. The English international has been linked with a move away from Old Trafford and Arsenal have emerged as a potential destination.
But, according to Charles Watts via CaughtOffside, the Gunners are not even considering betting on the United winger at this stage. While Arsenal have been linked with the 27-year-old, Watts is not sure if Rashford is the kind of player they need at this stage.
Rashford was at the peak of his powers during the 2022/23 season. Unfortunately, he hasn’t been able to maintain those levels. There has been a significant dip in his form in recent years and his off-field behaviour has also caused quite a few problems.
While his contract at Old Trafford runs until the summer of 2028, multiple reports have suggested that he could be on the move in the near future. The English international has been forced to fight for his place in the XI and he was even dropped from the squad during their 2-1 win in the Manchester derby against rivals City.
Rashford won’t be joining rivals Arsenal
The United graduate could push for a winter exit and he has been linked with a move to Arsenal. The North London club are expected to be one of the clubs that will battle for the league title. But, Mikel Arteta’s team have been a touch inconsistent this season.
They seem to lack firepower up top in attack and they will most likely look into the market for an ideal fit who can help their cause. While they did bet on Raheem Sterling in the summer, the former Chelsea winger hasn’t been able to deliver.
Arteta is not even considering handing him some minutes despite a lack of goals. They want to address that issue in the winter and Rashford can certainly help their cause. But, Watts doesn’t see it happening as the English winger is not the player he was a few years back.
A potential transfer will require a significant investment and the Gunners won’t bet on someone in hopes that he will turn things around and come good having tried that with Sterling during the summer.
