Barcelona exploring loan-to-buy deal for Caio Henrique

La Liga heavyweights Barcelona are reportedly mulling over pursuing an initial loan deal with a purchase option to sign 27-year-old Brazilian international Caio Henrique from AS Monaco.

According to an update by reputed Spanish journalist Andres Onrubia Ramos, Caio Henrique is the subject of interest from FC Barcelona. The Catalan giants are scouring the market for a left-back ahead of the 2025 summer transfer window. So, the 27-year-old AS Monaco defender has emerged as a target, with the Blaugrana exploring an initial loan deal with a purchase option.

Caio Henrique has endured a topsy-turvy ride since joining AS Monaco from Atletico Madrid. The South American full-back spent his formative years in Brazil, graduating from the youth division. However, he had to wait until the start of the 2020/21 season to land on his feet, with his spell with Atletico Madrid not yielding the desired results.

The 27-year-old has blown hot and cold at AS Monaco, and the last 12 months have seen him go in and out of the starting lineup. Henrique has turned out over 150 times thus far for the Ligue 1 outfit while chipping in with three goals and 34 assists.

However, the Brazilian international has managed only one appearance thus far for the Selecao, a surprising eventuality. Nevertheless, Henrique’s stock in the market is high, with Barcelona among his prospective suitors ahead of the 2025 summer transfer window.

Barcelona’s interest in Caio Henrique is understandable. The Catalan giants are scouring the market for a left-back heading into the 2025 summer transfer window. While Alejandro Balde has been excellent for Barcelona since becoming the undisputed first-choice left-back, Hansi Flick wants a top-notch alternative to the Spanish international.

So, several candidates, including Alphonso Davies, have emerged on Barcelona’s radar. However, Henrique is also a viable target, and the Brazilian international might feel he has unfinished business in La Liga after his forgettable spell at Atletico Madrid. Meanwhile, Barcelona will look to sign him on an initial loan deal.

Barcelona will hope to include a purchase option in a possible loan agreement with AS Monaco. Meanwhile, the 27-year-old is open to leaving the Ligue 1 club next year after losing prominence in the 2024/25 season.
