Liverpool will compete with Real Madrid and other European bigwigs to sign 26-year-old Dutchman Sam Beukema from Serie A club Bologna.
According to a report by TEAMtalk, Sam Beukema is the subject of interest from Liverpool. However, Real Madrid and several other European bigwigs are also keen on signing the Bologna midfielder. Meanwhile, the Serie A outfit will demand around €25 million to part ways with the Dutchman.
Who is Sam Beukema?
Sam Beukema has been one of the most dependable defenders in Serie A since joining Bologna from AZ Alkmaar in July 2023. A native of Deventer, the Dutch defender spent his formative years in the Netherlands, starting his youth career at VV Diepenveen before graduating from the academy at FC Twente.
The 26-year-old rose in prominence during his spell with AZ Alkmaar, although his stock has soared during his stint with Bologna. Beukema has been a mainstay at the back for the Rossoblu, turning out over 50 times thus far while chipping in with two goals and two assists.
Meanwhile, Beukema’s progress has not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of several high-profile clubs across Europe. Liverpool and Real Madrid are among the prospective suitors for the Dutchman’s signature, with Atletico Madrid, Inter Milan, and Juventus also vying for his services.

Liverpool’s interest in Sam Beukema is understandable. The Reds are scouring the market for a centre-back amid the advancing years of Virgil van Dijk. In addition, the Dutch defender recently rejected a new contract from the Merseyside outfit. With Ibrahima Konate and Joe Gomez’s fitness issues troubling them, Liverpool must sign a new centre-back.
As for Real Madrid, the reigning La Liga champions are desperate to sign a centre-back, with David Alaba and Antonio Rudiger on the wrong side of 30. In addition, Eder Militao has picked up two long-term knee injuries within 15 months. So, several candidates, including Ladislav Krejci, are on Real Madrid’s radar.
