Arsenal ahead of Manchester United, Tottenham, Newcastle and Aston Villa in the race to sign Matheus Cunha

Arsenal are making themselves lead runners in the chase for Matheus Cunha, with other Premier League rivals also chasing the Wolves forward.

According to Caught Offside, Arsenal are emerging as the front runners in the chase for Matheus Cunha. Mikel Arteta could closely look at the Brazilian as an option depending on many factors, including how the club proceeds with the future of Gabriel Jesus, as the Gunners will face plenty of competition for the Wolves forward.

Matheus Cunha has hit top form this season for the Wolves despite the team underperforming under Gary O’Neil. Many top clubs have seemingly begun considering the Brazilian attacker ahead of the January window, as the likes of Newcastle United and Aston Villa are among those keen.

Manchester United and Tottenham are also keen, as Wolves will have to fight very hard to keep hold of the forward amid interest from the top teams. The Midlands side are open to offering him a new deal, with the report suggesting an extension until 2029 might have already been put forward on the table.

Should interest from elsewhere mount up, the chance of Cunha signing that new deal may not materialise, which could open the doors for a move in January or next summer. It could ideally be the latter, with Manchester United being told they will have to pay a record sale fee to convince Wolves, as Pedro Neto was their record sale last summer.

With the number of clubs now showing big interest, and should they make a compelling offer in January, it would test the Wolves’ resolve with the 25-year-old forward. Meanwhile, Arsenal is looking at taking the lead in the chase, as they have reportedly begun doing some work in the background to find out more about the former Atletico Madrid star.

Arsenal front runners in Matheus Cunha’s chase?

Arsenal are increasingly looking likely to land a striker in Jnauary if the circumstances suit their cause. They are eager to bring in an alternative option to Kai Havertz, as the likes of Gabriel Jesus have underperformed and could leave for the right conditions.

Should the Brazilian leave, Arsenal might take the lead in the chase for Cunha and make their presence felt in the race. For now, they are reportedly understanding further details about the Wolves man, although they will find it very tough and expensive to land the 25-year-old in January.
