Chelsea will reportedly compete with Manchester United to sign 18-year-old versatile Brazilian attacking sensation Lorran from Flamengo.
According to a report by Tutto Mercato Web, Lorran is the subject of interest from Chelsea. The Flamengo wonderkid is also a target for Manchester United. The versatile Brazilian attacking sensation has a market value of €12 million, but he might fetch his club a much higher transfer fee when he moves to Europe.
Who is Lorran?
Lorran, better known as Lorran Lucas Pereira de Sousa, is one of several teenage prospects to rise in prominence in his homeland. A native of Rio de Janeiro, the South American attacker has spent his formative years thus far in his hometown, progressing through the ranks at Flamengo before graduating from the youth division at the Serie A club.
The 18-year-old versatile attacking sensation broke into the first-team squad at Flamengo in January 2023 but had to wait until the 2024 season to grow in stature in the senior setup. The youngster has turned out 37 times this season while chipping in with four goals and five assists.
While Lorran’s output can improve, he has shown enough potential to excite high-profile clubs and pique the attention of European bigwigs. Chelsea and Manchester United are among the prospective suitors to sign the Brazilian wonderkid, whose market value has soared to €12 million.
Premier League adventure beckons?
Chelsea’s interest in Lorran is understandable. The Blues have been busy in the South American market since BlueCo took over from Roman Abramovich. The Chelsea fans will see Estevao Willian and Kendry Paez arrive from the continent next year. Meanwhile, the Flamengo whizkid has been on the West London club’s radar for a long time, and he remains a target for them.
As for Manchester United, the Flamengo prodigy can be a long-term solution in the final third for the Premier League bigwigs. Ruben Amorim will appreciate the player’s versatility, considering he can reprise every offensive role except central striker. Manchester United mulled over offering Antony in the deal to sign the teenager, but that will unlikely see the light of day.
While Lorran’s market value is €12 million, Flamengo will likely demand a premium to part ways with him. It will be interesting to see where the 18-year-old Brazilian attacking sensation lands amid his links with Chelsea and Manchester United.
