Borussia Dortmund are considering knocking on the doors of Manchester United for the signature of Tyrell Malacia.
According to a report from Caught Offside, Tyrell Malacia could be on his way out in the upcoming winter transfer window as there is a significant amount of interest in his services from Borussia Dortmund. The Dutch full-back hasn’t had the best of times at Old Trafford and this could be Manchester United’s opportunity to cash in on him.
Malacia came up the ranks at Feyenoord and made quite a name for himself while playing for their first team. On the back of his consistent performances and huge potential, United invested a significant fee to bring him to the club in the summer of 2022.
While he had a decent debut campaign, things have only gone downhill for him since. He missed the entire 2023/24 season because of injury and recently marked his return under Ruben Amorim. While he is back fit, his future has become a massive talking point.
With him out for almost 18 months, it is going to be very difficult for the 25-year-old to return to his best. The fans would love to see him get an extended run in the team under Amorim but United might soon have to make a massive decision regarding his future.
Dortmund are interested in Malacia’s services
There is interest in his services from Borussia Dortmund and with the Red Devils looking for a new left-back, it might be a sensible decision from their end to cash in on him.
The German club are looking to add more depth on the left flank and they believe Malacia could be an ideal fit for them. With Dortmund ready to bet on the Dutch international, United could move him on and bring in a younger alternative.
Malacia will try to break into Amorim’s first team but if he fails to cement himself as a key figure in the team in the next weeks, the Portuguese manager won’t mind cashing in on him. But, it will be interesting to see if Dortmund actually end up making a move for him at the turn of the calendar.
