Real Madrid have initiated discussions with Liverpool to sign their defensive mainstay Trent Alexander-Arnold.
According to a report from TBR, Real Madrid have started taking steps towards the potential signing of Trent Alexander-Arnold. The Spanish giants have opened talks with Liverpool to sign the English full-back who could be a free agent next summer.
Alexander-Arnold has come up the ranks at Liverpool. He has been a part of their first team since 2016 and has helped them win all major titles. The 26-year-old right-back is one of their mainstays but his long-term future is uncertain with his contract running out.
While he remains a key figure in their first team under Arne Slot, he might not be a part of their team for long as his current deal runs out at the end of the season and no progress has been made regarding a new deal.
The English international was expected to enter into renewal talks with Liverpool during the recent international break but nothing has come out of it. With time running out, Real Madrid has emerged as a potential destination for Alexander-Arnold.
Los Blancos are massive admirers of the full-back and would love to have him in their team. Dani Carvajal and Lucas Vazquez are in the final phase of their career and the team in white are looking at the Liverpool graduate as an ideal replacement.
Real Madrid are pushing to sign Alexander-Arnold
Carvajal’s season-ending knee injury has caused quite a few problems for the Madrid-based outfit and signing a right-back is one of their priorities at this stage. They are keen on adding Alexander-Arnold to their team and have held talks with Liverpool about signing.
The report suggests they have put forward an offer on the table for the English international. While Real are under no obligation to inform Liverpool and can directly reach a pre-agreement with him during the winter window, they are holding talks with the Reds and are open to a potential transfer in January.
People at the Merseyside club are holding talks about his future and they are considering selling him in the winter if he doesn’t agree to put pen to paper on a new deal.
