According to a report by Football Insider, Paul Pogba will return to football next year after his truncated ban ends in March 2025. Recent updates have linked the former Manchester United midfielder with Newcastle United. However, the move is a “non starter” for the 31-year-old beleaguered star.
The rise and fall of Paul Pogba
Paul Pogba has seen his career come to a grinding halt since rejoining Juventus from Manchester United in a Bosman move in July 2022. The Frenchman was eager to prove a point after leaving Manchester United as a free agent for the second time in a decade.
However, injuries hampered his progress before a doping ban rendered him to the sidelines for four years. That ban has gone down to 18 months and will end in March 2025 after the Court of Arbitration for Sport reduced the suspension by arguing his ingestion of a banned substance “was not intentional”.
While Pogba will return in a few months, his spell with Juventus has ended, with both parties mutually agreeing to part ways by terminating his contract. However, the 31-year-old French midfielder does not have a shortage of suitors, with several well-known clubs, including Newcastle United, pursuing his signature.
Premier League return on the horizon?
Newcastle United can do with a player like Paul Pobga if he can rediscover his top levels and shrug off his injury woes. With Bruno Guimaraes a highly sought-after player in the market and a few other players facing an uncertain future at St. James’ Park, the Tyneside outfit should invest in a midfielder.
So, several candidates, including Alberto Moleiro, have emerged on Newcastle United’s radar. While Pogba would have been a viable target, the former Manchester United midfielder will unlikely arrive at St. James’ Park next year, with the move a “non starter”.
