Manchester United are preparing an offer to sign Geovany Quenda, with the player reportedly eager to reunite with Ruben Amorim.

According to The Telegraph, Manchester United could make a sizeable offer to sign Geovany Quenda ahead of next summer. The Red Devils are open to paying €60 million plus bonuses to sign the exciting teenager, with the Sporting CP star reportedly keen on a trunion with Ruben Amorim, as per A Bola via SportWitness.

Ruben Amorim took charge of his first game as Manchester United boss, as they travelled to Ipswich Town and returned only with a point. The 39-year-old manager deployed his shape of a back three while using Amad Diallo and Noussair Mazraoui as wing-backs. The Red Devils boss was critical of his players following that performance, as he could target a few additions in future windows.

Amorim will likely focus on strengthening those wing-back positions, as Diallo, despite paying well, may not have a long-term role there. The same goes for Diogo Dalot or Mazraoui, who are more suited to play in other roles. Thus, a new wide player might be on the manager’s mind.

He could return to Sporting CP for exciting teenager Geovany Quenda, with Manchester United already showing an interest soon after Amorim’s appointment. However, there are complications in this case, as the winger will only be able to leave Portugal after he turns 18 in April, which firmly points towards a summer move rather than a January transfer.

Amorim has also pledged not to sign Sporting players in January as a show of respect to the club, meaning their chase for Quenda or Viktor Gyokeres could shift to the summer. In Quenda’s case, the Red Devils are not alone, as Arsenal and Liverpool are also interested, although the player would certainly like a reunion with Amorim if an opportunity presented itself.

Quenda has a €100 million release clause, which Sporting inserted after the teenager extended his deal until 2027. Meanwhile, Manchester United are reportedly preparing a €60 million offer with additional bonuses, which might prove difficult to convince Sporting, who will want the fee much closer to his release clause.

The €60 million-rated attacking prodigy might be a perfect candidate for Amorim’s project. Depending on the finances available, Manchester United could even offer a loan-to-buy deal, although Sporting would prefer an outright sale if negotiations progress.
