Arne Slot’s Liverpool are interested in acquiring the services of teenage AS Roma goalkeeping sensation Renato Marin.
Renato Marin’s impressive rise at AS Roma hasn’t gone unnoticed. Multiple top clubs are keen on signing the young shot-stopper and according to a report from TuttoSport, Liverpool are one of the clubs that have serious interest in signing the Italian youth international.
Marin was a part of the Sao Paulo youth setup back in the day before he made the move to Italy in the summer of 2022. He started with the Roma Under-17 team and has managed to get promoted to the Roma first team in no time.
While he is yet to make his debut for the first team, breaking into the senior setup at just 18 is some achievement. He continues to play for their youth team but that might not happen for long as top clubs are keen on snatching him away.
The Italian youth international’s contract at Roma runs out at the end of the season which means he will be free to negotiate a pre-agreement at the turn of the calendar. While Roma do want to extend his contract, the renewal talks haven’t gone according to plan for them.
There has been some significant delay from the club’s end in starting renewal talks and there are high possibility that both parties might not reach a common ground. As a result, Marin could be on the move as a free agent next summer.
Marin could be heading to the Premier League
There is a significant amount of interest in him from Italy as Juventus and Inter Milan both want to add him to their squad. Apart from them, English giants Liverpool are also interested in signing the 28-year-old.
Alisson Becker is the Reds’ current number one and they have already signed Giorgi Mamardashvili who will be joining them next season to be their future number one.
But, with Becker entering the final phase of his career and Caoimhin Kelleher expected to be on the move, Marin could be a great addition to their ranks. He can cover for Mamardashvili in the near future and eventually be their number one in the long run.
