West Ham United keen on signing Evan Ferguson

West Ham United’s search for a new striker could lead them towards Brighton’s disgruntled attacker Evan Ferguson, with talk of a loan move rife.

According to Fichajes, West Ham United could plot a move for Evan Ferguson to solve their striker issues, as Brighton & Hove Albion could be open to a loan. The Hammers have struggled in the centre-forward space, and they could angle a move for the 20-year-old disgruntled striker over at the Seagulls.

Evan Ferguson was once dubbed the apparent successor to Harry Kane in the Premier League due to their similarities and goalscoring ability. The Irish international has since suffered a major dip in his form, as he has had some fitness issues over the last two seasons.

Yet, he featured 27 times for Brighton in the previous campaign, scoring six times, the same number of goals he scored in the previous season. The striker clearly needs to play a concerted number of games and with regularity, something he is not able to achieve under Fabian Hurzeler.

The Austrian tactician has preferred Danny Welbeck to lead the line, and Ferguson is down in the pecking order behind the experienced forward and Joao Pedro. Hence, expecting him to play regularly would be hard at this point, as the Seagulls are reportedly open to a loan move to allow the 20-year-old disgruntled striker regular game time.

Chelsea retain an interest in Evan Ferguson, but they might prefer to sign him permanently rather than on a loan. Now, West Ham United are reportedly keen to sign the striker, and given their current plight, they could even agree to take the Irish international on a loan deal until next summer.

West Ham chasing Ferguson

West Ham United have struggled without a proper striker this season as the presence of summer arrival Niclas Fullkrug has yet to work out. They are also struggling to unlock Danny Ings and Michail Antonio, meaning bringing a name like Ferguson will not be surprising, even if it is on a loan deal.

The Hammers are keen on names like Randal Kolo Muani, with the PSG star available on loan, while Jonathan David has also been mentioned.  They are also looking at Igor Jesus, but given his price tag, it will seem difficult to sign the Botafogo striker in January.

Hence, the idea of signing Everton Ferguson on loan is ideal for the Hammers as well as the player, as this team under Julen Lopetegui needs a significant presence like the Brighton man up front to use all the creativity behind.
