Jakub Kiwior a strong target for Napoli amid Juventus links

Juventus target Jakub Kiwior is quite high on Napoli’s wishlist as they look to reinforce their defence in the winter.

According to a report from Televomero via Area Napoli, Napoli are looking to add more quality to their backline on a priority basis and have their eyes set on Arsenal’s Jakub Kiwior. While they are looking to knock on the Gunners’ door in January, the Partenopei will have to battle Juventus to secure his services.

Kiwior made a name for himself playing for Spezia Calcio. On the back of an impressive 18-month spell in Italy, Arsenal forked out a significant fee to acquire the services of the Polish international at the start of 2023.

While the 24-year-old defender is quite highly rated by people at the North London club, he hasn’t been able to establish himself as a key figure in their first team. He prefers playing in the heart of the defence but is capable enough to be the left-back as well as a feature as a defensive midfielder.

Despite his versatility, he is only a backup option under Mikel Arteta. In the ongoing campaign, the Polish international has been involved in just eight matches and has racked up just over 320 minutes of first-team action.

Kiwior to leave Arsenal in January?

Kiwior is looking to part ways with the Gunners in search of a more prominent role elsewhere. While his contract at the North London club runs until the summer of 2028, the Premier League giants won’t stand in his way as long as they receive a suitable fee.

There is significant interest in his services from Italy. Serie A giants Juventus are looking to reinforce their backline after injuries to Gleison Bremer and Juan Cabal. While the Old Lady are looking at quite a few options, Kiwior seems to be an ideal fit as he can help cope with both the player’s absence thanks to his versatility.

But, Juventus won’t find it easy to sign him as Napoli consider him a strong target to bolster their backline in January. Antonio Conte seeks more quality as well as depth at the back and they are willing to invest in the Polish international who is still relatively young.

With Juan Jesus already 33 and his contract running out, Kiwior can surely be an ideal replacement. While the player would love to return to Italy, the cost of the operation will have a big say on how things proceed.
