Antonio Cordero has attracted big interest from Premier League sides ahead of January due to his availability on the cheap.
According to Caught Offside, Premier League sides are closely monitoring Antonio Cordero’s situation at Malaga as the attacker could be made available on the cheap. With the winger’s current deal expiring at the end of the current campaign, teams like Arsenal, Manchester United and Aston Villa could snap him up for as little as €2 million.
Premier League sides are increasingly looking at talents that are close to breaking into the first-team mould rather than languishing with the youth sides. There are not many talents out there in that aspect, at least not on the cheap, which is where Antonio Cordero comes into the focus.
The 18-year-old attacking prodigy has been impressive for Malaga this season in the Spanish second division. He has contributed to six goals and assists this season, as some Premier League sides are already looking at the idea of signing him.
Cordero’s current deal with Malaga expires next summer, meaning those interested sides could snap him on the cheap. The report states the likes of Arsenal, Manchester United, and Aston Villa are interested and could get their hands on the 18-year-old attacking prodigy for as little as €2 million. The Gunners are reportedly leading the race for his signature.
The idea of bringing in the player very high up in his developmental curve could be a great deal for either of those three clubs. Arsenal has been in the market for teenage signings, with William Gomes one of their targets, as well as Real Madrid’s Arda Guller, although the latter is unlikely to leave the Bernabeu.
Aston Villa and Manchester United tracking Cordero
Arsenal are also in the hunt for a top striker, but they could also focus on bringing in a teenage talent to develop into a future first-team star. Aston Villa have similar ideas, as Unai Emery continues to look for more young winners to add to his squad. The potential signing of Cordero could be something the club thinks about, especially with his future upside as well as the price point he’s available for.
