Angel Gomes wants to part ways with LOSC Lille in 2025 amidst interest from Manchester United and Tottenham.
According to a report from TBR, Manchester United and Tottenham have both received a massive boost in their pursuit of Angel Gomes as the English international has decided on his future. He has informed LOSC Lille that he wants to leave the club in 2025.
Gomes was a part of the Manchester United youth setup since his early days. He went up the ranks at some pace and got promoted to their first team in the summer of 2019. While he was considered a great prospect, things didn’t work out for him at Old Trafford and he ended up moving to France in 2020.
After a loan spell in Portugal, he established himself in the Lille first team and has only gone from strength to strength since. The 24-year-old attacking midfielder has been a standout performer for them of late and his consistency has helped him break into the England national team.
While he doesn’t have sensational numbers in the ongoing campaign, his overall gameplay and more importantly, his ability to feature in a deeper role in midfield have caught the attention of quite a few clubs in England.
English giants are keen on signing Gomes
Manchester United are one of the clubs who have been keeping a close eye on him. They are all set to start a new era under Ruben Amroim and are considering bringing Gomes back to the club. Rivals Tottenham are also keen on his signature.
The North London club parted ways with quite a few midfielders during the summer and Ange Postecoglou is keen on adding more depth in the centre of the park. Gomes’ ability to play in three different roles in midfield makes him a perfect fit for his setup. The United graduate is only 24 which means he will only get better with time.
Gomes wants to leave Lille
Both clubs have been tracking him for a while and they have received a massive boost as Gomes has informed Lille that he will be leaving the club in 2025.
The French outfit are confident that he won’t be leaving mid-season but with his contract running out in the summer, it looks certain that he will be a free agent in the summer.
Having informed Lille that he wishes to join a new club in 2025, Gomes is free to negotiate a pre-contract with either of the English clubs.
