Newcastle United eyeing January move for Johan Bakayoko

Arsenal unwilling to move for Callum Wilson.

Newcastle United are plotting a raid on PSV Eindhoven to sign Johan Bakayoko amid interest from Arsenal and Liverpool.

Newcastle United want to reinforce their attack in the winter transfer window. The Magpies want to bring in a new right winger and according to a report from TBR Football, the Tyneside outfit are eyeing a move for PSV Eindhoven sensation Johan Bakayoko.

The Tyneside club were in the market for a right-winger during the summer, and they were linked with Anthony Elanga. Unfortunately, things did not go according to plan for them. They had serious Profit and Sustainability concerns which resulted in a relatively quiet transfer window.

Newcastle United offloaded Yankuba Minteh and Elliot Anderson to balance their books and are now looking to move on Miguel Almiron in the winter. While they remain in a tight spot in terms of finances, the Magpies are still looking to bolster their attack.

Newcastle United’s search for a new right-winger continues

Eddie Howe seeks more firepower up top and he wants a quality right-winger who can level up his attack. Anthony Gordon has been doing wonders for them on the left, and Newcastle United want someone with a similar skillset on the right.

While Elanga remains on their wishlist along with a few other names, they have their eyes set on Johan Bakayoko for the upcoming transfer window. The 21-year-old Belgian winger has already made quite a name for himself.

He is considered one of the best young right-wingers in the world, and the Magpies want him on their squad to help Howe take the next step. He has five goals and two assists in his 16 outings this season and is a key part of the PSV first-team setup. However, they could find it difficult to keep him in their ranks for long.

Arsenal and Liverpool could rival Newcastle United

The Belgian international has similar numbers to Gordon when it comes to dribbling and taking on opposition defenders. His arrival could make Newcastle a force to reckon with. But, they won’t find it easy to sign him, as Arsenal and Liverpool have been keeping a close eye on him.

The Reds were interested in him during the summer and with Mohamed Salah’s future uncertain, the Merseyside club could look at him as an ideal replacement. While the Gunners do have Bukayo Saka in their ranks, they do not have an ideal cover for him.
