Newcastle United ready to offer Callum Wilson in deal to sign Bryan Mbeumo

Newcastle United are reportedly willing to offer Callum Wilson in the deal to sign Brentford attacker Bryan Mbeumo, a target for Liverpool.

According to a report by The Sun, Bryan Mbeumo is the subject of interest from Newcastle United. The Brentford attacker is also a target for Liverpool, with the Bees demanding around £50 million to part ways with him. Meanwhile, the Magpies are ready to include Callum Wilson in the deal to sign the Cameroonian international from the West London club.

Bryan Mbeumo at Brentford: The story so far

Bryan Mbeumo has gone from strength to strength since joining Brentford from ESTAC Troyes in August 2019. The French-born attacker has been a mainstay in the final third for the Bees, essaying an instrumental role in taking them from the EFL Championship to the Premier League before playing his part in making them a fixture in the top flight.

The 25-year-old has turned out over 200 times thus far for Brentford while chipping in with 58 goals and 43 assists. Mbeumo’s stock has soared since the start of the 2023/24 season, embracing more responsibility in Ivan Toney’s absence before raising his performance levels after the English international moved to Saudi Arabia in the summer transfer window.

Meanwhile, Mbeumo’s progress at Brentford has not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of several high-profile clubs across Europe. A move across the Premier League might be on the cards, with Liverpool and Newcastle United among the prospective suitors for the Cameroonian international.

Move across the Premier League on the cards?

Liverpool’s interest in Bryan Mbeumo is understandable. The Reds are in a spot of bother over the long-term future of Mohamed Salah, who has yet to commit his long-term future to the Merseyside club despite entering the final nine months of his contract. So, the Brentford forward has emerged as a viable target for Liverpool.

As for Newcastle United, Mbeumo can be a solid addition to the offensive department. With Miguel Almiron facing an uncertain future at St. James’ Park, the Brentford attacker can be a long-term replacement for the Paraguayan international. The latest report has claimed that the Magpies are ready to offer Callum Wilson in the deal to sign Mbeumo.

Brentford will demand around £50 million to part ways with Mbeumo. However, Newcastle United will hope to bring the price down by offering Wilson in the deal. It will be interesting to see if the Tyneside outfit can beat Liverpool to the 25-year-old Cameroon international’s signature.
