Tottenham are one of the Premier League sides interested in a January move for Louie Barry, as Stockport County could sell.
According to Fichajes, Tottenham are in pursuit of Louie Barry from League One side Stockport County in January. The 21-year-old former Barcelona prospect has been in good scoring form this season, but his contractual situation and rising interest could see him depart the League One side.
Tottenham are expected to stay busy ahead of the January window. Like the last winter window, the north Londoners could get some deals done. Ange Postecoglou feels he needs some reinforcements in defence and the final third.
A striker might not be the most necessary signing they might need in January, but a wide attacker might be on the agenda. For instance, there are a few links to some notable names, like Villarreal’s Alex Baena or Kevin Zenon of Boca Juniors.
They have also seen links to Facundo Buonanotte from Brighton, although the young attacker is not thought to be available for sale at this point. While Spurs are expected to bring a name or two in the attacking phase, they are also targetting a League One forward in January.
Louie Barry, who has 11 goals this season in League One for Stockport County, has emerged on Tottenham’s shortlist. It may not be the most popular move by any means, although the 21-year-old former Barcelona prospect has sown plenty of promise and could be developed into a top star in the future.
Stockport to sell Louie Barry?
Stockport are reportedly demanding at least €15 million to sell Barry ahead of the January window, although interested clubs could find a way to do a cheaper deal. For instance, the 21-year-old’s contract expires next summer, and rather than losing him for free, Stockport would likely agree to a modest fee even if it is far less than the €15 million they want.
Losing him would be a severe blow, although Barry would be eager to switch to the Premier League in his career. The player has been at many clubs, including Barcelona and Aston Villa, in the past, but nowhere did he make a first-team appearance. He does seem well-travelled for his tender age, as Tottenham will hope to have him in north London next.
