Manchester United are in no rush to decide Joshua Zirkzee’s future in January, as the forward will be given his chances to shine.
According to Football Insider, Manchester United are not interested in making a quick decision on the future of underperforming summer signing Joshua Zirkzee. The Dutchman will be given his chances to prove his worth under new manager Ruben Amorim, as various reports have linked him with a return to Serie A.
Joshua Zirkzee felt like a signing Manchester United needed when he netted the winner off the bench in the opening game of the season. The Dutchman has since gone on a barren run of 16 games across all competition, as he’s no longer the automatic first-choice striker at the club.
Zirkzee has started each of his last five league games off the bench as doubts have started creeping up about his immediate future. In truth, not many players have been performing well this season, but it feels like stars like Zirkzee have been singled out for criticism.
There has been a lot of news surrounding Zirkzee, including a report stating that former manager Erik ten Hag did not want him in the summer. Either way, the Dutchman failed to take advantage of Rasmus Hojlund’s injury-related absence and has now allowed the Dane to reclaim the starting spot with ease.
Either way, further reports stated that Manchester United could contemplate a departure for Zirkzee ahead of January. A few Serie A sides are keen, with Juventus gathering information on the striker’s immediate future. However, the Red Devils have no interest in letting the forward leave so soon, as they believe he will have plenty of time to prove his worth and are willing to show patience in his growth.
Zirkzee to get chances under Ruben Amorim?
Active reports state that Manchester United could use Zirkzee in a deal for Viktor Gyokeres, the Sporting CP striker who was tremendous under Ruben Amorim. With the Portuguese manager set to manage Manchester United from this weekend, heavy stories have indicated he could sign the Swede.
However, given Manchester United’s investment in Zirkzee, they are unlikely to part ways so quickly., In fact, the belief is that the underperforming summer signing will give ample chances under Amorim going forward. However, should the Dutchman not perform at all this season, he could seriously risk his career ahead of the summer window.
