Liverpool are looking to sign a world-class forward to replace Mohamed Salah who could leave the club at the end of the season.
Mohamed Salah’s future at Liverpool is uncertain. The Egyptian international is in the final year of his contract and he will be free to discuss a pre-agreement with any foreign club starting January. While the Reds would ideally want him to extend his stay at Anfield, they have started to prepare for life without the 32-year-old.
According to a report from Football Insider, the Merseyside club are looking at the market for an ideal candidate who can help replace Salah. They want to bring in a world-class star who can help the Reds cope with the absence of one of the best forwards to have played for the club.
Brown’s take on Salah’s future at Anfield
While speaking on Football Insider, former Manchester United and Blackburn chief scout Mick Brown said: “Liverpool are already actively searching for top replacements,”
“But he’s the best player in the world in his position, of all of the players who are left-footed right-wingers.
“He’s the best and nobody can really match up to him.
“So it won’t be an easy task for them to find somebody who can replicate his form.
“They’ll have a feeling, though, about whether or not he’ll still be at the club next season.
“There’s been a lot of talk over his contract and whether or not a decision has been made already, but I have heard they’re planning for both eventualities.
“This means they’re already identifying players who could come into the team in his position.“
Salah’s time at Liverpool
While things didn’t go according to plan for Salah during his time at Chelsea, he revived himself with a move to AS Roma. After making a name for himself at the Italian club, he returned to the Premier League to join Liverpool and hasn’t looked back since.
Since returning to England in 2017, he has gone on to establish himself as one of the best forwards in the world. He has helped the Reds win all major titles and with his contract running out at the end of the season, the Merseyside club are worried about who will take his place in the team.
They are pushing to renew his deal but they are not yet certain that he will put pen to paper. The 32-year-old has been heavily linked with a move to the Middle East. Clubs from the Saudi Pro League have tried to sign him in the past and they will return for his signature next summer. They are looking to make him one of the faces of their league and he could be interested in making the move.
Liverpool’s recruitment team are working hard to find an ideal replacement. But, Brown believes it won’t be easy as Salah is the best right-winger going around at this point in time. While the Reds are lining up a world-class replacement, they will try to extend his stay at the club until the very end.
