Real Madrid could come to prefer Trent Alexander-Arnold over Pedro Porro as their new right-back choice, as multiple factors are still in play.
According to Fichajes, Real Madrid’s preference would be Trent Alexander-Arnold over Pedro Porro ahead of next summer. The two right-backs are understood to be the standout candidates for the position as Florentino Perez continues to focus on bringing the Liverpool man on a free transfer.
Real Madrid appear more than certain to recruit a new right back next summer, as Florentino Perez is likely to focus on defensive recruitments next summer. Apart from strengthening the full-back position, Madrid is also intent on bringing in a central defender or two and a left-back.
There are a few notable names mentioned for those central positions, while Alphonse Davies remains the primary left-back target, with the Canadian potentially available for free. Perez has a similar plan of action for the right-hand side, as he continues to target a Bosman move for Liverpool star Trent Alexander-Arnold.
Real Madrid are also tracking Pedro Porro during the current international break, as the Tottenham mainstay is also a key target for Perez. The price tag associated with the Spurs man could be a deterring factor in their pursuit of the Spaniard, as Madrid would instead focus their efforts on Alexander-Arnold.
The Liverpool star is already into the final year of his deal at Anfield, and there are worries about his potential departure next summer. In theory, if the Merseysiders let Alexander-Arnold leave, they are potentially allowing an asset worth around £100 million, a Bosman move for nothing, which does suit Real Madrid.
Alexander-Arnold preferred over Porro
Even if the price point remains a significant factor for Real Madrid in their chase of Alexander-Arnold and Porro, the former’s quality does make him a better player compared to the Tottenham mainstay. There have been contrasting reports that Alexander-Arnold could potentially sign a new deal at his current club, which would make him the highest-paid player at Liverpool.
Alternatively, it’s believed that Alexander-Arnold will not renew with Liverpool as he targets a dream move to the Bernabeu. Hence, this pursuit of the Liverpool star has more complications in the background than it actually appears, meaning this chase will face further complications. However, Real Madrid could have a clearer picture around the January window.
