Arsenal are ready to battle Newcastle United in the chase for La Liga duo Williot Swedberg and Alberto Moleiro ahead of January.
According to Caught Offside, Williot Swedberg and Alberto Moleiro could have caused a transfer battle between Premier League sides, such as Arsenal and Newcastle United. The English duo are eager on the La Liga midfield pair playing for Celta Vigo and Las Palmas, respectively, as either team is eager to reinforce their squads in January.
Arsenal gunning for La Liga duo
Mikel Arteta is not at all pleased with the way Arsenal has started their season. They are already trailing league leaders Liverpool by nine points. They have missed certain elements in their squad due to persistent injuries and suspensions, with Martin Odegaard’s absence depriving them of creativity in their midfield.
Similarly, they have output issues from the left side of the attack, as Raheem Sterling has not worked while Leandro Trossard seems to be out of form. Arteta is looking to bolster that side of the pitch as well ahead of January, as he has two La Liga players, Williot Swedberg and Alberto Moleiro, on his list.
Manchester City are one of those keen on Moleiro, and so are Arsenal, as Arteta potentially views him as a competitive signing in the Odegaard role. Signing the midfielder in January will be difficult as Las Palmas will not let him leave, and the same might be the case with Celta Vigo when it comes to Swedberg.
The Gunners will have other targets in mind, as Arteta wants reinforcements to complete his squad in January. Arsenal have a long season ahead, and the manager will want new signings to galvanise their season and bring them to their expected levels.
Newcastle United to rival Arsenal from La Liga pair
Newcastle United are also interested in Swedberg and Moleiro ahead of the January window. Eddie Howe feels his side is not fully equipped to mount a big challenge for the top four, as signings in January would help them in their cause.
Much like Arsenal, the Magpies will face problems convincing either La Liga side to part ways with their key players in January. Hence, Newcastle might keep them on a list ahead of next summer’s window, as these two stars will have many offers on the table around then.
