Leroy Sane might prefer a switch to London and lean towards Arsenal’s interest, as Manchester United are also keen.
According to Caught Offside, Leroy Sane might prefer to move to London rather than Manchester amid a tricky period of his career. The winger’s Bayern Contract expires next summer, and should no new deal arrive from the Bavarians, he could return to the Premier League, with Manchester United and Arsenal keen.
Leroy Sane remains one of the most formidable wingers in Europe despite his struggles this season at Bayern Munich. Already into the final year of his contract there, the lack of regular game time may affect the club’s decision to offer the winger a new deal, as Sane could effectively leave on a free next summer.
Bayern would ask for a considerable fee in January, which casts doubts over Sane’s move in the winter window. The 28-year-old would reportedly prefer to stay put at Bayern Munich if he had a choice, although he would not oppose a return to the Premier League, as there are a few clubs keen to sign him.
Arsenal and Newcastle United had considered making January bids, although complications like the factor above will see suitors wait until the summer. The Gunners are reportedly in a better position than anyone else, given their location and Sane’s preference for London.
The whole idea stems from the report stating that Sane and his family were unsettled in Manchester during his previous spell at Manchester City. Incidentally, it was at the Blues that the 28-year-old worked closely with Mikel Arteta, and the Arsenal boss now wants Sane to join him at the Emirates as a potential replacement for Raheem Sterling, who could return to Chelsea next summer.
Manchester United move tricky for Sane
While Arsenal represents a solid option for Sane, as he is reportedly leaning towards London over Manchester, it does not rule out a move to Manchester United. The arrival of Ruben Amorim will see the Red Devils make some moves in the transfer market, and they are indeed interested in Sane.
The 28-year-old might be open to the idea of heading to the red side of Manchester, which will irk a few of his old colleagues from Man City. However, much will depend on factors like salary and the importance he’s given in the squad. Sane will likely have a better chance of breaking into the starting lineup with regularity at Manchester United compared to the current Arsenal side.
