Newcastle United are not considering Arsenal striker Gabriel Jesus as a potential replacement for their star striker Alexander Isak.
According to Mick Brown via Football Insider, Newcastle United are unlikely to push for the services of Gabriel Jesus. While Arsenal are ready to listen to offers for their Brazilian forward, the Magpies won’t be looking at him as a potential replacement for Alexander Isak whose long-term future is uncertain.
Isak to part ways with Newcastle?
Isak has only gone from strength to strength since joining the Tyneside club from Real Sociedad. He has established himself as one of the best young strikers in England and multiple top clubs are keen on signing him.
While the Magpies wanted to extend his stay at the club and they were holding contract renewal talks, those discussions have reached a standstill and reports suggest Isak could push for a move away from the club in the summer of 2025.
Newcastle could be forced to look into the market for a top striker to replace the Swedish international. While recent reports have linked them with Arsenal’s Gabriel Jesus, Brown has ruled out the possibility of the Magpies looking at him as a potential replacement.
Brown on Gabriel Jesus to Newcastle
While speaking on Football Insider, the former Manchester United, Tottenham and West Ham scout said: “I don’t think he’s one they’re going to be looking at,”
“If they’re going to lose Isak, who I hold in very high regard, finding a replacement of comparable standard for him is going to be very difficult.
“They’ll want a real top-level centre-forward who can guarantee them goals and help to link play.
“I don’t see Jesus as that type of player and I don’t think Newcastle will either.
“His record at Arsenal isn’t the most impressive and there’s a reason they want to move him on
“They might be interested in bringing him in as a backup player if they think they’re going to keep Isak, but he’s not one of the names in line to replace him.“
Newcastle are not keen on signing the Arsenal striker
Gabriel Jesus has gone down the pecking order at Arsenal. While he has been involved in 15 matches, the Brazilian has been on the pitch for less than 500 minutes. Mikel Arteta is not happy with his output and he is ready to sanction his departure in the winter.
While he will be available for a cut-price fee, Brown believes Newcastle are not looking at him as an option to bolster their attack. If they do lose out on Isak, the Magpies will search for a world-class number nine who can score goals consistently as injury-prone Callum Wilson is the only other option they have.
The 27-year-old Arsenal striker doesn’t really have that great a record in front of goal and there is a reason why the Gunners are ready to let him leave. While they could look at him as a potential backup option, he is not the one who can help replace Isak.
