Jonathan David has been linked with a move away from LOSC Lille in recent months, with Fulham and Newcastle United keen on him.
According to Give Me Sport, Fulham and Newcastle United will compete to sign 24-year-old Canadian striker Jonathan David from Ligue 1 club LOSC Lille, and it will be interesting to see who wins the race for his signature.
The Canadian international has been outstanding for the French outfit and he scored 26 goals for them last season. He has started the current season in impressive form as well and he could transform the likes of Fulham and Newcastle.
Fulham need to sign a quality striker and David would be an upgrade on Raul Jimenez. The Mexican is in the twilight stages of his career and he will need to be replaced adequately.
Newcastle need more depth
On the other hand, Newcastle have been overly dependent on Alexander Isak. They need more quality and depth in the side in order to do well across multiple competitions.
David has shown his quality in French football and he has the physical and technical attributes to do well in the Premier League as well. He could be a key player for both clubs and it remains to be seen where he ends up.
The striker will be a free agent in the summer of 2025 and he could be available for a nominal price in January. It will be interesting to see if Newcastle decide to sign the player in January or if they decide to wait until the summer transfer window to snap him up on a free transfer.
They will be able to secure a pre-contract agreement with the striker when the transfer window opens in January.
The Canadian will want to compete at the highest level and push for trophies regularly. Newcastle have an ambitious project and the resources to sign top-quality players. He could be attracted to the idea of joining them.
The player is entering the peak years of his career, and he will look to prove himself in the Premier League and push for major trophies in the coming seasons.
