Real Madrid set to track Pedro Porro in international break

Real Madrid will reportedly dispatch scouts to closely monitor 25-year-old Tottenham full-back Pedro Porro during the international break.

According to a report by Spanish journalist Manuel Amor, Pedro Porro is the subject of interest from Real Madrid. The reigning La Liga champions are keen on signing a right-back next year, with the Tottenham defensive mainstay emerging as a target. The Merengues will send scouts to watch the Spanish international during the international break.

Pedro Porro and his progress at Tottenham

Pedro Porro has established himself as one of the best full-backs in the Premier League since joining Tottenham Hotspur from Sporting CP last year. The North London club initially signed the Spaniard on loan before completing a permanent move in the subsequent summer transfer window.

The 25-year-old has been a mainstay at the back for Tottenham Hotspur in the last two years, turning out 67 times while chipping in with eight goals and 12 assists. Meanwhile, Porro’s progress has not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of several high-profile clubs across Europe.

In addition, the Spanish full-back’s exploits have helped him establish a foothold in his national squad, making five appearances for La Roja. However, Porro’s time with Tottenham Hotspur might end next year if Real Madrid cannot sign Trent Alexander-Arnold from Liverpool.

Will Porro return to Spain soon?

Real Madrid’s interest in Pedro Porro is understandable. The reigning La Liga champions have been scouring the market for a right-back for a long time due to Dani Carvajal’s advancing years. However, the process has accelerated due to the Spaniard’s season-ending knee injury.

Trent Alexander-Arnold is thus the top target for Real Madrid, with Los Blancos completing due diligence on the Liverpool star. However, Porro is the top alternative if the Merengues fail to secure the Englishman’s services next year. The latest report has suggested that Real Madrid will send scouts to watch the Spanish international during the international break.

The Tottenham defensive mainstay should be Spain’s first-choice right-back in Carvajal’s absence. However, the 25-year-old will unlikely join Real Madrid unless Alexander-Arnold continues his long association with Liverpool beyond the 2025 summer transfer window.
