Everton will reportedly look to sign 24-year-old Ghanaian international Tariq Lamptey from fellow Premier League club Brighton & Hove Albion next year.
According to a report by Africa Foot, Tariq Lamptey is the subject of interest from Everton. The Toffees are scouring the market for a right-back heading into the 2025 summer transfer window. Meanwhile, the 24-year-old might leave the Seagulls after the 2024/25 season ends, with Juventus also keen on signing him.
Tariq Lamptey and his career so far
Tariq Lamptey established himself as one of the brightest young full-backs after breaking into the first-team squad at Chelsea. So, it was surprising when the West London club sold the London-born full-back to fellow Premier League outfit Brighton & Hove Albion in January 2020.
The 24-year-old has been in and out of the starting lineup at Brighton & Hove Albion in the last four and a half years. Fitness issues have also plagued Lamptey, who has managed over 100 appearances thus far for the Premier League club while chipping in with three goals and ten assists.
Meanwhile, Lamptey’s stock in the market remains high, with the report by Africa Foot linking him with Juventus. However, Everton will look to keep the Ghanaian international in the Premier League, with a departure from the Amex Stadium in the 2025 summer transfer window possible.
Move across the Premier League on the cards?
Everton’s interest in Tariq Lamptey is understandable. The Toffees are scouring the market for a right-back heading into the 2025 summer transfer window. While Sean Dyche has three right-backs in his squad, a closer look reveals the need for a younger option in the position, with Ashley Young and Seamus Coleman in the twilight of their careers.
Nathan Patterson is the only other right-back in the Everton squad, although the Scottish international has struggled with fitness issues. So, several right-backs, including Gonzalo Montiel, have emerged on the Merseyside club’s radar. However, Lamptey is also a viable target for Everton ahead of the 2025 summer transfer window.
However, Everton will face stiff competition from Juventus, and the Turin club might be an attractive destination for the Ghanaian international. It will be interesting to see where the 24-year-old full-back lands if he parts ways with Brighton & Hove Albion in the 2025 summer transfer window.
