Liverpool handed boost in Rayan Ait-Nouri pursuit

Arne Slot’s Liverpool could sign Wolves defensive sensation Rayan Ait-Nouri for a cut-price fee.

Liverpool are keen on reinforcing their defence, they want to add more quality to the left side of the backline and are interested in the services of Rayan Ait-Nouri. Wolves will struggle to keep hold of the Algerian full-back amidst all the interest and according to a report from Football Insider, the Reds could sign him for a cut-price fee.

Ait-Nouri has only gone from strength to strength since joining Wolves from Angers towards the end of 2020. He has featured in more than 100 matches in the English top flight and has made quite a name for himself. The 23-year-old is considered to be one of the best young full-backs in England and multiple top clubs want to sign him.

His contract at Wolves runs until the summer of 2026 and he is not keen on staying at the club for long. Ait-Nouri wants to join a bigger club but he prefers staying in the Premier League and Liverpool have emerged as a potential destination.

Liverpool keen on signing Ait-Nouri

The Reds already have Andy Robertson and Kostas Tsimikas in their squad. While both are capable left-backs, they haven’t been consistent enough of late. Arne Slot has rotated between the two and given them enough opportunities to make that spot their own but the duo have failed to live up to his expectations.

The Dutch manager wants to bring in a young full-back who can help him in the long run and provide him with another option. Ait-Nouri seems to have all the attributes that the Liverpool boss is looking for. He has been a consistent performer in the ongoing season and has impressed on both ends of the pitch.

The 23-year-old full-back has three goals and two assists in the Premier League so far and given the amount of experience he has of playing in the English top flight, he will hardly take any time to settle in if he ends up moving to Anfield.

The Reds have been monitoring since Jurgen Klopp’s time at the club and they could soon make a move for his services. With his contract running out and European giants pushing, Wolves are unlikely to keep hold of him and they might accept a smaller fee for his services.
