Manchester United’s new boss Ruben Amorim draws up a list of players he wants to get rid of in the winter transfer window.
The Manchester United board recently took a massive decision as they decided to part ways with Erik ten Hag. Ruben Amorim has already been appointed to replace the Dutch manager. The arrival of the Portuguese manager will result in quite a few changes at Old Trafford.
Apart from the change in system and tactics, there will be quite a few changes in terms of personnel and according to a report from Fichajes, Amorim has presented the United board with a list of four players that he doesn’t count on. The former Sporting CP boss wants Casemiro, Victor Lindelof, Antony and Christian Eriksen out of the club when the window reopens in January.
While the United board decided to back Erik ten Hag during the summer window and handed him significant funds to bolster the squad, the results didn’t go their way and they ended up sacking him. They have already reached a full agreement to bring Amorim to the club and an official announcement has already been made.
Amorim to get rid of four first-team stars
The Portuguese manager will take charge of the Red Devils starting 11th November. While he is yet to arrive in Manchester, the 39-year-old has already started planning about his new role. He will be looking at the winter window to reinforce his squad but apart from that, he is also keen on offloading the likes of Casemiro, Lindelof, Antony and Eriksen.
The Brazilian defensive midfielder has been a consistent performer in recent years and given the kind of lofty wages he is earning at Old Trafford, his departure will be a massive financial boost. While the Red Devils forked out a fortune to sign Antony during the Ten Hag era, he hasn’t lived up to the expectations.
While Lindelof and Eriksen are good squad players, they don’t seem to fit into Amorim’s plans. The departure of all four of them will free up space in the squad as well as the wage bill, helping them sign top players in January. These changes could prove to be key in the revival of the club.
