Liverpool increasingly likely to land Aurelien Tchouameni

Liverpool are increasingly likely to get into the mix for Aurelien Tchouameni ahead of January to bolster their title chances this season.

According to TEAMtalk, Liverpool are set to enter the chase for Aurelien Tchouameni in a big way if Real Madrid are willing to sell him in January. The Reds are open to investing big in a player that would definitely bolster their title chances, with the French midfielder likely to cost in the £100 million region.

Liverpool took a gamble in the summer by not making a splash in the market to bolster their title credentials, and so far, their strategy has paid off. Arne Slot took his side two points clear of Manchester City on Saturday, and now there would be genuine talk of a title challenge this season.

However, Arne Slot would reportedly require more legs in his midfield, which may suffer burnout given the number of games they have ahead. Hence, the manager’s January window plays would include reviving the idea of signing a defensive midfielder, as they hold a genuine interest in Aurelien Tchouameni.

The French midfielder has suffered the brunt of criticism following some abject performances from Real Madrid, especially in the Clasico. Real Madrid are reportedly open to a sale, and the Frenchman would cost around £100 million.

Liverpool are open to adding a new defensive midfielder, and there are chances they will consider investing in the £100 million-rated Real Madrid star if the conditions are right. Tchouameni fits their age criteria, and the money would not be a problem, given the midfielder’s long-term prospects. The big question here is whether Real Madrid are really open to a sale in January.

Will Real Madrid sell Tchouameni in January?

Given Real Madrid’s defensive problems and Dani Carvajal’s additional absence, there is more emphasis on having a player like Tchouameni. Carlo Ancelotti seemingly trusts the player, and he has used the Frenchman in defence many times, which does make him a big player in the squad.

Hence, there are doubts whether Real Madrid will entertain the prospect of losing a key player in the middle of the season, and selling him to a European rival in the UEFA Champions League. While there are chances Florentino Perez might consider offers for the £100 million-rated midfielder in the summer, the chances of Tchouameni leaving in January are slim to none.
