Lille want €40 million for Lucas Chevalier amid Barcelona, Manchester City links

Barcelona and Manchester City will have to fork out €40 million to acquire the services of LOSC Lille shot-stopper Lucas Chevalier.

Lucas Chevalier’s sensation rise has put him on the radar of multiple top clubs and according to a report from Fichajes, LOSC Lille are ready to sanction their goalkeeping sensation’s departure as long as an interested club is ready to fork out €40 million.

Chevalier has been a part of the Lille setup since 2014. He went up the ranks at some pace and has been a part of their first team since the summer of 2020. The Frenchman became a regular feature in their starting XI during the 2022/23 season and has not looked back since.

He has already featured in 96 matches for their first team and has kept a clean sheet in 38 of those outings. The 22-year-old has been a consistent performer throughout the last 18 months, and it has resulted in a lot of interest from across Europe.

While his contract with Lille runs until the summer of 2027, the Ligue 1 giants are ready to sanction the departure of the 22-year-old shot-stopper on their terms. Les Dogues have set an asking price of €40 million for the French youth international.

European giants keen on Chevalier

Multiple top clubs are keen on his signature, but none more than Barcelona and Manchester City. Both clubs are looking to reinforce the goalkeeping position, and Lucas Chevalier is quite high on their wishlist because of his performances as well as his potential.

Marc-Andre ter Stegen is currently out with a long-term injury. He is unlikely to return until next summer. While his contract with Barcelona runs until 2028, he will be 33 next season, and his future is uncertain. As a result, the Catalan giants are looking at the Lille goalkeeper as an ideal replacement.

But, the financial side of things will be a massive challenge for Barcelona. Meanwhile, Manchester City are also keen on his signature. While Ederson has been doing wonders for them and his contract runs until 2026, he has been linked with a move to the Middle East.

The Brazilian international could leave Manchester City at the end of the season, and they feel Lucas Chevalier could be a great acquisition for the short as well as the long run. He can surely help cope with Ederson’s potential departure.
